The Hot 8 Brass Band is featured in the upcoming Spike Lee film "If God is Willing and Da Creek Don't Rise," the sequel to Lee's film, "When the Levees Broke." The release will mark the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and how it forever changed the city of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.
The documentary will update the progress of the region's education, housing and population relocation. It will revisit with Hot 8 members that appeared in the first film and truly shine a spotlight on New Orleans indomitable spirit. Lee's 40 Acres and a Mule production crew will be back in New Orleans to partner with HBO to present this documentary later this summer. "When the Levees Broke" received critical acclaim and won three Emmy Awards.
