Leland
Faulkner’s World of Wonder is a
dream in action. Classic conjuring, fantastic tales, light hearted humor,
pantomime, and stunning shadowplay, create Leland
Faulkner’s theatrical feast. His
performances are constantly evolving, embracing improvisation, and encouraging
the magic of wonder.
Through
his explorations of myth and magic, Leland
Faulkner has created groundbreaking visual theatre. This process starts when
seemingly simple objects are given the gift of animation and an extra dimension
through the use of light. For
example pieces of paper filled with movement become butterflies dancing and
multiplying; shadows take on a life of their own in an imaginative exploration
of light. Creative use of visual effects exposes the audience a contemporary
view of ancient art forms, including Japanese art, shadow theatre, illusion
techniques, folk tales from around the world as well as original works and
original theatrical special effects. The
resulting performance product is like no other.
Leland
Faulkner has won critical acclaim for his
uniquely creative, mesmerizing presentations. With a vision dedicated to the
necessity of make-believe and the ability of theatre to be a universal art he
continually searches for meaningful theatre. In the broadest sense, Leland
Faulkner's work could be described as "imaginary," meaning that
more happens in the spectator's imagination that exists on stage. By presenting
material that allows the spectator to enter into dreams with the actor, Leland Faulkner's World of
Wonder enables his audiences to walk away with visions of their own.
FAMILY
CONCERT
World
of Wonder is a celebration of stories, illustrated with masterful acting and
amazing magic, that transports family audiences across the globe. You are invited to become part of the dream as a paper bird
becomes real and shadows obtain a perception of life separate from the pair of
hands that creates them. World of Wonder
is simply beautiful and beautifully simple in it’s appreciation of world
cultures. By joining acting, story,
movement, shadowplay, and magic, World of
Wonder becomes family theatre that embraces both art and entertainment.
SCHOOL
PROGRAMS
Leland
Faulkner can bring a compact version of his performance to your school!
Teaching supplements and guides are available to help correlate the
program to the curriculum. The compact program will educate your students about
other cultures, promote tolerance, and hold their attention through pure art and
entertainment. The program illustrates the cultures of Europe, Asia, and
Native America. Your students will
leave the program with wonder in their minds, faith in themselves, and the
knowledge that they make a difference in the world.
