Classical Recital / Chamber / Symphony - Touring 13-14

Christopher O’Riley’s countless successes have garnered him praise across a variety of musical and artistic genres.  Throughout his many endeavors, he remains a true and vibrant advocate for classical music through acclaimed live performances, recordings, and for over a decade, as host of National Public Radio’s enormously popular program From the Top.  

Mr. O’Riley has toured with the renowned Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and the Moscow Philharmonic, and has appeared with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Minnesota Orchestra, and the symphonies of Philadelphia, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Dallas, St. Louis, Detroit, Colorado, Atlanta, and Baltimore, among others. The illustrious group of conductors with whom he has collaborated includes Marin Alsop, Michael Tilson Thomas, Roger Norrington, David Zinman, Leonard Slatkin, John Williams, Neeme Järvi, JoAnn Falletta, Bobby McFerrin, Hans Graf, Yoel Levi, Hugh Wolff, and Andrew Litton.  He has appeared internationally in recital in Paris, Munich, Berlin, Salzburg, Vienna, and Sydney.

Recently, Christopher has collaborated on tours and recordings with flutist James Galway and cellists Carter Brey and Matt Haimovitz.  He gave recitals at Stanford, Duke, Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, Wolftrap and the Ravinia Festival and appeared as soloist with the Baltimore Symphony, New Mexico Symphony, and the Buffalo Philharmonic.  At present, he is in the midst of a three-year residency at Louisiana State University as a James M. Syler Distinguished Visiting Artist.

Mr. O’Riley has released recordings of Beethoven, Stravinsky, Scriabin, Ravel, Gershwin, Debussy, and John Adams on the Elektra Nonesuch, RCA, Decca, Tring International, Harmonia Mundi, and SONY labels.

Christopher O’Riley studied with Russell Sherman at the New England Conservatory of Music and was an Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient.  He has been honored with awards at the Leeds, Busoni and Montreal competitions, and was a finalist at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 1981.  Mr. O’Riley is a Steinway artist.
